About Laboratory

The Laboratory of Regional Geology was established in 1947 and was headed by A. I. Mesropyan till 1963. From 1963 to 1975, the group of lithologist worked within the laboratory of Regional Geology as well, headed by R.A. Arakelyan. In 1975, with the initiative and leadership of M.A. Satyan, the Laboratory of Lithology and Stratigraphy was established within the structure of the Regional Geology department. From 2008 to 2011, the Laboratory of Regional Geology and Lithology was headed by L.H. Sahakyan. Since 2011, the Laboratories of “Regional Geology”, “Lithology”, “Paleontology and Stratigraphy” have been functioning as independent units. The laboratory has been renamed “Lithology and Regional Geology” since 2016.
